Bihar Institute of Law was established by the Law Society of Bihar in January 1984. The ‘Law Society of Bihar’ is a registered Society under the Societies Registration Act 1860 bearing registration No. 440 of 1983-1984. It was established by senior and renowned members of the Patna High Court Bar. It is recognized by the Bar Council of India and approved by the Bar Government for a 3-year LL.B. Admission for these UG Courses are strictly on the basis of entrance exam conducted by college in the banner of BILAT. Subjects like English, General Knowledge, Legal aptitude and Analytical reasoning are covered in the syllabus of the entrance test.

- Eligibility for B.A LL.B: Students must have passed their 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognised board of education. Student’s Minimum marks obtained in last qualifying examination should be 45% or its aggregate.
- Eligibility for LL.M: Students are required to have Graduation degree in any discipline/course from a recognised board of University. Minimum passing marks in their last qualifying examination must be at least 45% or its equivalent grade.

Bihar Institute of Law admission window has not opened yet for the PG programmes for the academic session 2026. Those who are interested can apply through the official website of University.
