Presidency University Kolkata PhD admission will start soon for the July 2026-27 session in various programmes, including Ph.D (Doctor of Philosophy). Eligible Applicants can apply for admission through its official website. For admission as a Ph.D student must have a Master’s degree in relevant discipline with at least 55% marks. There will also be a registration fee of INR 500, non-refundable and mandatory to pay. The fee structure at Presidency University is INR 1,00,000 per annum. Ph.D degree offered by University is approved by UGC. There will be an interview and entrance test to select candidates for Ph.D.

About Presidency University Kolkata

This University was once known as Hindoo University, which was established in 1817. Later in 1855, the University changed its name to Presidency University. It is a Public State University located in Kolkata. Till now, it functions as the leading constituent college under the University of Calcutta. It is approved from UGC, West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB), and NAAC.

Presidency University Kolkata PhD admission will start soon for the academic session 2026. Admissions will be applicable only for UGC and UGC – CSIR NET-qualified students. There is also basic eligibility criteria to fulfill. Applications will be accepted Online only with an INR 500 application fee. 

Ph.D is an highest level academic degree any student can achieve. It is a doctoral degree with 3 to 5 years duration. Eligibility Criteria For Presidency University Kolkata PhD Admission

Every desired applicant needs to fulfill the eligibility criteria as mentioned in the guidelines of the University. 

Academic Eligibility: Candidates shall have a Master’s degree with at least 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. A relaxation of 5% or equivalent relaxation in grade allowed for those belonging to reserved category students and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) as per UGC guidelines.

Presidency University Kolkata PhD admission registration has not started for the July 2026- 27 academic year. Students who are interested in applying for any UG or PG courses can visit the official website to fill out the registration form.

• Step 1: Students can get an application form through given link www.14.139.217.88/pms/. Interested candidates have to fill application form online. 
• Step 2: The Application Number will be generated after successful completion of online application. Use that number to pay the non-refundable application fee. 
• Step 3: Send or drop your application form along with Marksheets/Grade Cards, synopsis of proposed research work (500 words), copy of payment receipts and other documents as required to Main Campus address.
• Step 4: Then University will inform about Interview schedule. A selection list will be announced after interview process. 
• Step 5: Last step includes verification of documents (hard copy) of selected students by department.

Presidency University PhD Selection Procedure

All desired applicants are required to submit a research proposal to the Ph.D department of the University. Research proposal should not exceed 500 words limit. University will select applicants on the basis of their research proposal. All selected students will have to appear for Test and Interview, conducted by the Departmental Ph.D. selection Committee of the University. In an interview, applicants will discuss their interest in research.

After interview procedure, a list of shortlisted applicants will be displayed at University’s official website. Shortlisted students must pay their fees within the stipulated timeline given by University. They will be initially offered provisional admission till they complete all mandatory formalities.
