West Bengal State University admissions for the 2026-27 academic year will start soon. West Bengal State University (WBSU) is a state government university established by the Government of West Bengal and passed by the Legislative Assembly in 2008. It is located in Barasat, North 24 Parganas. The university has 53 affiliated colleges, of them 46 colleges are accredited by NAAC with “A” grade. WBSU has 31 PG departments providing a wide range of subjects from language, literature, social science, science, commerce and management. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It encourages research, innovation and cultural activities. It aims to create future-ready professionals and leaders.

West Bengal State University UG Courses Admission 2026- 27 

West Bengal State University admission process for UG courses in the academic year of 2026-27 will start soon. However, the university does not conduct UG courses, but through its affiliated colleges it offers a number of undergraduate (UG) courses. Interested candidates can apply through their respective college by visiting their official portals. For pursuing UG courses, students should complete their 10+2 (higher secondary education) or equivalent examination from a certified board. Obtaining a minimum of 50% to 55% aggregate marks in relevant streams also required by the university. The selection process for UG courses is mainly based on merit score but it may require entrance exams for some courses.

West Bengal State University PG Courses Admission 2026- 27 

West Bengal State University admission will begin soon for the postgraduate courses for the academic year 2026- 27. WBSU offered numerous courses at PG level, including M.A. in Economics, History, Hindi, Film Studies, Journalism & Mass Communication, M.Sc. in Mathematics, Physiology, Statistics, Zoology, MBA, M.Com and many more. Applicants who have successfully completed their graduation in a relevant field with a minimum passing percentage of 50% to 55% can apply for the PG courses. Candidates are also required to appear for entrance tests like CAT /MAT /XMAT /GMAT /GATE, but most of the programmes do not require any test/exam. The university also provides relaxation on marks to the reserved category candidates. 

M.Sc Mathematics Admission 2026- 27 

WBSU offer a Master of Science (M.Sc) in  Mathematics in the duration of 2 years, which consists of 4 semesters. Qualification requirements for pursuing M.Sc Mathematics programmes from WBSU is to hold a Bachelor’s or Science degree in Mathematics from a recognized university. Also obtain at least 50% aggregate marks at the graduation level. Applicants also have to qualify for national level entrance exams like CAT /MAT /XMAT or any state-level entrance test.

West Bengal State University Admission Fee Structure

The fee structure of West Bengal State University is quite reasonable compared to other universities. An undergraduate (UG) course fee starts between INR 4,000 to INR 12,000 per year. The PG courses fee ranges from INR 4,600 to INR 11,700 per year with some additional charges like non-refundable registration fee of INR 400 and INR 600 for new registration. An MBA programme fee is INR 29,150, the per semester tuition fee is INR 17,500 and development fee of INR 2,000 per semester.

West Bengal State University has a placement cell that helps students to build their career by connecting them with top companies and organizations. The cell is focused on providing practical computer- based training through their department of computer science and electronics.
