Rabindra Bharati University Admission will start soon for numerous programmes in July 2026. RBU is one of the oldest and prominent Universities in Kolkata. Candidates who are interested in studying here can apply through RBU’s official website. Eligible students can apply for UG course if they are 10+2 passed, and apply for PG course if they have a Bachelor degree. There is application processing fee of INR 500 non refundable and necessary to pay. Average fees at University for all courses falls between INR 30,000 to INR 1.50 lacs.

About Rabindra Bharati University

Rabindra Bharati University was founded in 1962 under Rabindra Bharati Act to mark Birth Centenary of poet Rabindra Nath Tagore. University offers programmes in both regular and open & distance learning mode. Apart from degree programmes, University also offers training courses in competitive examinations including NET and SET. Rabindra Bharati University is UGC approved, NAA accredited and imparts quality education.

Rabindra Bharati University admission process will start soon for the  Undergraduate programmes for the July 2026 sessions. Eligibility criteria should be fulfilled by every student. There will be an application processing fee of INR 500. Reserved and Special category students will get relaxation in it. Undergraduate programmes are a 3-year course which is divided by RBU in six semesters. University will offer UG programme in different courses like Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor Of Education (B.Ed.), etc, with specialization in different subjects. Interested candidates can apply through RBU’s official website only if they are eligible. Admission is based on merit of last qualifying examination.

Rabindra Bharati University PG Admission 2026

Rabindra Bharati University admission will begin soon for the postgraduate programmes for the academic session 2026. To apply, students must be fulfilling all eligibility criteria as mentioned in University guidelines. They have to pay application fee of INR 500 at the time of submitting their form. SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Other categories students gets relaxation in their application fee. Postgraduate programme has a course duration of minimum 2 years and RBU has divided it in 4 semesters. University offers PG courses like MBA, MCA, M.A, M.Com, M.Sc, M.Lib.I.Sc  etc with different specializations. Interested and eligible students can apply at official University website of RBU. Admission procedure is based on Merit and entrance based depending on courses. 

Eligibility Criteria For Rabindra Bharati University Admission

Eligibility Criteria shall be fulfilled by every candidate who is applying for admission in any course/programme at RBU. Eligibility criteria differs depending on course level. University also accept entrance test for some technical and higher level courses. Common eligibility is written below:

  • Eligibility for UG Programmes: Candidates must be 10th and 12th standard passout with minimum 55% marks in relevant subjects/streams from certified educational board.
  • Eligibility for PG Programmes: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with minimum aggregate marks of 55% in related field/discipline from recognised board of University.

Relaxation: Relaxation of marks in the last qualifying examination is provided to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/EWS category or if they are Physically disabled.

  • Step 1: Interested candidates have to go official website to access application form, www.rbu.ac.in/.
  • Step 2: Register as New User and complete required fields to get Username and Password at admission portal.
  • Step 3: Now login to your student portal and start filling application form with required information (personal and academic details)
  • Step 4: Upload all relevant documents in scanned format.
  • Step 5: Pay application fee and other applicable fees. Then submit your form and save confirmation mail. Regularly check University website for new updates.

Rabindra Bharati University Final Assistance and Research Fellowship

To financially support students, RBU offers large number of free studentships, and half free studentships on merit and need basis.

  • Junior Research Fellowships: offered 24 Junior Research Fellowships, 1 for each department in three faculties, for NET/SLET/SET qualified candidates, who are pursuing Ph.D programme.
  • Swami Vivekanand Merit-cum-Means Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students of the University.
  • Kanyashree Scholarships: This is offered to girl students of the University.

Rabindra Bharati University Examination System

RBU has implemented a semester-based examination system for all UG and PG programmes as per UGC guidelines from academic session 2013 onwards.

  • UG Programmes: Semester-based examination is held in 6 to 8 parts at the end of each semester.
  • PG Programmes: Semester-based exams are held in 4 parts at the end of each semester.

According to UGC guidelines, students should have 75% attendance of regular classes and must have submitted all the mandatory assignments to appear for examinations.
